A new chapter begins at Newark Townhomes! Thanks to a generous donation from Deborah Anne Bowen in memory of her mother, Katherine Ann Pabst Bowen, an esteemed Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing (OCCH) staff member and avid reader, residents now have a cozy and welcoming little library and book nook in the community room! The donation provided new cozy furniture, comfortable rug space with cushions, puzzles, games, and of course tons of books both gently used and brand new.
OCCH is a syndicator partner on many of Buckeye Community Hope Foundation’s affordable housing communities and has been a valuable and generous partner throughout the relationship. Stephanie Collinsworth, the Service Coordinator at Newark Townhomes, was instrumental in helping to organize the Book Nook.
An open house was held for the library to celebrate the grand opening. Several residents, partners, and staff were able to join in the celebration. The residents were excited and shared feedback: “This is going to be great!” and “I love the books, they even have my favorite books there.”
Some of the residents even brought their own books to be donated to the library. With future plans for a Homework Help Club, this space will continue to inspire learning and connection. A huge thank you to OCCH for their ongoing partnership and support of Buckeye Community Hope Foundation communities!
